I celebrated my 39th birthday several(?) years ago, and I'm still celebrating it year after year! Just think about this, though. Before I reached my 39th birthday I used to think 39 was OLD. Now I realize that "age" doesn't have as much to do with "years" as it does the way you THINK about it.
I had the most wonderful mother in the world who also became the most wonderful grandmother in the world. I always told myself that when I became a grandma I wanted to be one just like her. She was so kind and giving, and even though she had very little herself, she always managed to send a few dollars to her beloved grandchildren (13 of them). When some of the "kids" were in college she sent them letters of encouragement (and enclosed those few precious dollars), which they appreciated more than she even imagined.
Oh yes, and I don't want to forget to mention that she loved ALL babies and children. I never saw one of them that she couldn't make smile or laugh. She sure did know how to have "fun after fifty" (and LOTS more), and I'm determined that I'm going to do everything possible to follow in her footsteps.
So true about how Mom always having the babies laughing. I know it was because they could see her heart and knew how much she loved them. You HAVE followed in her footsteps. I can't wait to read your blog, filled with love, fun, and grand kid stories!!!
